Thursday August 07, 2008
Kingston, TN - The Roane Alliance has hired Pamela May as their new Tourism and Marketing Manager.
"Pam is a native of Roane County who comes to us with an Economics Degree from the University of Tennessee, as well as the hands-on experience that comes from running her own start-up business in Rockwood a few years ago, "Leslie Henderson, President/CEO of The Roane Alliance, said Thursday of May's appointment.
"In addition, Pam also has been a designer assistant for Glitterville, a Rockwood high-end giftware business, giving her an outlet for her ‘creative spirit' as she worked for the local insurance industry by day," Henderson said. "Her breadth of business experience and commitment to hard work and excellence make her a good match for our Alliance team."
"I am very excited to have a chance to share my love for Roane County," May said of her new position. Having grown up in Harriman, May lives there now with her husband, Eddie, in the house she grew up in. She loves to scrapbook and previously was the owner/operator of Tennessee Crafting Company in downtown Rockwood. May spends most of her spare time camping and boating on Watts Bar Lake with her husband and her niece and nephew.
May said one of her primary focuses as Tourism and Marketing Manager will be to develop new and creative initiatives to promote Roane County. "Besides living in the most beautiful part of Tennessee there are so many fun and exciting things to do - I just need to make sure that the rest of the country knows about us!"
The Roane Alliance is Roane County's economic development organization with the goals of improving the quality of life and bringing increased prosperity to Roane County. The Alliance consists of both public and private organizations, including the Roane County Chamber of Commerce, the Roane County Industrial Development Board and the Roane County Visitors Bureau.
