There's No Place Like Roane
Welcome home!
Relax & enjoy wonderful Roane County.
"We finally discovered our ideal property in Roane County. As soon as our real estate agent parked her car at what is now our property, I jumped out of the car and walked to the shoreline. When Dana joined me a minute later, I was almost asleep standing on the lakeshore. It was so beautiful and tranquil."

For Sally and Dana Peterka, Roane County was the end point of a ten-year
structured search to find the place that fulfilled their
jointly-developed vision of an ideal retirement location.
Dana's Quote:
"In addition to typical requirement, such as convenient access to
shopping, good medical facilities, and recreation, we wanted a
waterfront location with a lot of natural beauty. Also, after living in
five large cities, we wanted to get away from traffic hassles and
congestion. In addition, our vision included getting away from
burdensome property and local income taxes in
order to make our retirement income go farther."
Sally's Quote:
"After several years of averaging six weeks a year looking at
waterfront property, we finally discovered our ideal property in Roane
County. As soon as our real estate agent parked her car at what is now
our property, I jumped out of the car and walked to the shoreline. When
Dana joined me a minute later, I was almost asleep standing on the
lakeshore. It was so beautiful and tranquil."
The Peterkas now live on the 39,000-acr Watts Bar Lake and enjoy a two-mile water view.
Dana and Sally also wanted to make a contribution to the community in
their retirement. They both are active volunteers. Dana provides free
small business counseling and conducts workshops with SCORE, does free
income tax prep at the local United Way, and is on the local community
college foundation board. Sally is active in fund-raising for several
local charities such as the Roane County Heritage Commission.
