The Retire Roane Program began in 2008 when Roane County was chosen as a Retire Tennessee community. Currently, Roane County is one of only 21 communities in the state to be in the Retire Tennessee program. Partnering with the state and the other communities, Roane County promotes our quality of life to potential retirees in key target markets such as Illinois, New York, Michigan, New Jersey and Florida.
The Roane Alliance annually attends one of the fall or winter Ideal Living Shows held in these markets, providing a chance to meet and talk to affluent retirees who are planning to retire within the next five years. Roane County has received the Seal of Approval from the American Association of Retirement Communities.
In 2019 a retiree-recruiting campaign was launched that included a contest - Relax in Roane. One lucky winner was chosen out of nearly 5,000 entries to spend a weekend at the Whitestone Inn in Kingston, a AAA 4-Diamond Resort and one of the "most romantic inns in America."
